What has changed?

When it comes to measuring emissions, tourism businesses can be challenged to find the time, data and right starting point.

We’ve upgraded the Tourism Emissions Reduction Program to offer businesses more choice and flexibility when it comes to measuring their emissions.

Introducing the new Quick & Essentials option, designed to reduce the time and effort needed to get started with Stage 1 of the program.

With this option, your fuel and electricity use are the main focus, removing the need for complex data gathering so you can act sooner.

It’s perfect for businesses who want to:

• Get started with the TER program sooner;
• Focus on what they can control; and
• Start identifying cost savings opportunities earlier.

What does it mean for previous emissions calculations?

Nothing changes. All previous emissions calculations will remain exactly as they are.

This update simply introduces an additional measurement option for businesses who are:

• just getting started;
• re-estimating their emissions; or
• are currently stuck at Stage 1 of the program.

If you choose a different measurement option in future years, your report will still track your progress. Your one-page report will automatically compare the data available, based on the level of detail you’ve selected each year.

This means businesses can start simple and build over time, without losing historical data or progress.
