Insuring Tasmania's Tourism Industry
On the 20th of March 2026, the TICT released a new industry report that highlights the growing pressure that rising insurance costs and limited market access are placing on Tasmania’s tourism industry.
Drawing on survey data from 109 tourism businesses, which together host more than 2.2 million visitors annually, the ‘Insuring Tasmania’s Tourism Industry’ report shows public liability and property insurance premiums have increased by more than 50 per cent over five years. The findings reinforce industry calls for action and set out practical recommendations to address the challenges, including informing the development of the state government’s proposed TasInsure model and continuing to advocate for solutions at the national level.
The TICT is focused on solutions, and we are developing industry toolkits for operators to be released soon. Details of upcoming webinars are below. These webinars are designed to help operators better understand and manage insurance risk.
The TICT is looking forward to working collaboratively with Government at all levels as we look to address this complex and challenging problem.
