About Chris - CEO, Spirit of Tasmania

Chris Carbone is the Chief Executive Officer of Spirit of Tasmania, Australia’s iconic passenger and freight ferry service linking Tasmania and the mainland.

Chris commenced the role in May 2025 and is leading the organisation through a significant period of growth and transformation. He brings more than 25 years of experience across logistics, finance and large‑scale operations, along with a clear, calm leadership style that keeps complex projects moving smoothly.

Chris brings local, national and global expertise directly into the Tasmanian landscape. Before joining Spirit of Tasmania, he held senior executive roles at Toll, Coles, Devondale Murray Goulburn, Linfox and Sea Swift.

Chris’ leadership in Tasmania comes at a pivotal time, as Spirit of Tasmania prepares for the arrival of the new Spirit of Tasmania IV and V vessels, which will significantly expand capacity for both freight operators and the visitor economy.

Chris is a Board Member of the Tourism Industry Council Tasmania and is now proudly based in Northern Tasmania.
