From the Chair - 24/04/26
On behalf of the board of directors of Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania, I am delighted to announce to our members and the broader tourism community that our Chief Executive Officer Ms Amy Hills has signed on to stay with the organisation for a second three-year term.
The board has been extremely happy with the direction Amy has led our organisation over the past three years. Amy has made significant improvements in operations within the organisation and has continued to effectively lead the charge in advocating on behalf of industry and our broader sector. She is widely appreciated and valued by our members and stakeholders throughout the state and is also held in very high regard amongst the government circles where we need her representing our interests.
It's testament to the leadership of the Tourism Industry Council and our broader industry that the rest of Australia is looking to Tasmania for leadership, particularly through Amy's role in taking on Deputy Chair of the Australian Tourism Industry Council, earlier this year. There is no doubt that all eyes are on our state, with other states and territories keen to learn from our successful and unique governance structure and true collaboration with Tourism Tasmania and other areas of Government. At a time when our industry is facing immense opportunity but also significant uncertainty, in addition to critical machinery of government changes which will impact our industry for decades to come, we need strong collaboration and leadership more than ever before.
The Tourism Industry Council continues to be a highly effective advocate for and enabler of tourism in Tasmania, thanks in large part to Amy’s contribution. The board and I look forward to working with Amy over the next three years to tackle the challenges facing our sector and deliver positive outcomes for Tasmania.
Clint Walker, Chair of the Board
