From the CEO - 01/05/2026
As the second week of school holidays come to an end in Tassie, I'm hoping as many of you as possible will have seen Tasmanians out and about in your neck of the woods. The timing of Easter and Tasmanian school holidays fell awkwardly this year, which always makes a bit of difference.
In terms of the current fuel situation - we continue to take our advice from the Tasmanian and Federal Governments that fuel supplies remain secure. But it's obvious that the global disruption will not stabilise anytime soon - so warnings around a 'long tail' remain. Given that, I'd like to encourage as many of you as possible to get along to our next Skilled in Sixty session next Wednesday - 'Cashflow, cost and control: tourism finance essentials'. We know these are the decisions many of our small and medium size operators deal with every day and it's important to plan ahead.
Survey fatigue is probably setting in also - but Tourism Tasmania has refreshed our joint industry Pulse Check and while I know it's just another job to complete - the insights really do help how we advocate on your behalf in state and federal settings. So thank you in advance!
What all this does do is provide us with some really critical topics to unpack at our upcoming Tasmanian Tourism Conference which will be launching in the next few weeks. We have some incredible state, national and even international speakers lined up to push us to think beyond the here and now. Change is the new normal and we need to be prepared and as agile as possible to weather it. We have some excellent opportunities to partner with us on our conference this year also - check this out below.
And finally - nominations are now open for the Tassie Tourism Awards - we'd love to see you as part of team Tassie and don't forget to vote for your Top Tasmanian Tourism Town.
