Managing Psychological Hazards through Workplace Culture
Intended workshop audience: Small to medium-sized businesses
Workshop Description: Psychosocial hazards in the workplace can often be misunderstood or ignored.
With 2 in 5 Australians having experienced a mental health condition at some point in their lifetime and early 10% of all serious workers compensation claims in Australia being related to mental health conditions, this is a topic that is critical for all workplaces.
Building and maintaining a positive workplace culture is a great way to both identify and manage these often invisible hazards and foster mentally healthy teams.
This workshop will explore what psychosocial hazards are, how they may present, and some simple and cost-effective strategies operators can implement to identify and control them.
This practical session will also provide Tasmanian tourism operators the tools to build resilient workplaces and retain great staff, even in challenging times. it explores how small changes to workplace culture and leadership can lead to big improvements in staffing, morale, and performance.
