Boutique and authentic experiences are critical to Tasmania's brand. They give us our competitive advantage, by offering visitors uniquely Tasmanian experiences that they can connect with. But what works and what are the pitfalls?

In this breakout session, you'll hear two very different perspectives. The Tasmanian Tourism Minister's Young Achiever award winner, Anna Terry, will speak about her experience in developing the Truffle Farm - the home of Australia's first black truffle.

You'll also hear from the Festival of Voices, Al McCormack, on developing an iconic Tasmanian winter event and importantly how it's been able to be sustained. Come away with tips on what works and what doesn't when it comes to developing authentic Tasmanian experiences.

About Anna & The Truffle Farm

Anna’s parents were pioneers of the Truffle Industry in Australia, having grown the nation’s first truffle in 1999 at the family’s farm. Growing up in this environment was Anna’s first foray into tourism. While Anna has traditionally managed all the company’s harvest, grading, and international exports, in 2020 Anna committed full time to developing The Truffle Farm in northern Tasmania, and curating the superb agritourism product that it is today.

Anna has played a large role in leading and developing agritourism in Tasmania through her leadership, while at the same time continuing to contribute to the export standard for her industry. The Farm offers tours and a farmgate shop, while championing local food, wine and other beverages.

In 2022, Anna was awarded Tasmanian Young Achiever for the Tasmanian Tourism and Hospitality sector, and at the 2023 Tasmanian Tourism Awards she was named the Tourism Minister's Young Achiever Award recipient.
