Spirit Spotlight - 13/02/25

From the Tasmanian Government

Dated: 13 February 2025

Spirit IV
TT-Line are continuing their negotiations to lease the vessel with interested parties.

The Government expects to provide an update at the end of February.

Now the weather has improved in Leith, the superficial scratch on Spirit IV has been repaired.

Berth three
Work at Berth 3 is progressing well with fixed shore piling nearing completion, construction of the foundations for a southern retaining wall underway, and concrete pouring to begin soon.

The sewer and stormwater works have been completed.

Activity is happening off site, with a crane and a 48-metre-tall custom-made piling rig being mounted to a barge that will be used in the next stage of construction.

With activity set to ramp up on site over the coming weeks, work hours on site are set to be expanded to ensure works can be completed as quickly as possible

Tourism
Interest in the Tasmanian Government's $5 million Tasmanian Festival and Event Support Fund has been strong.

The program has now closed, and work is underway to assess applications.

The Government continues to work with key industry representatives and organisations, as each part of this important package is developed.

Feedback received from industry stakeholders regarding the Spirit Preparedness Fund Guidelines is currently being considered.

The $5 million Aviation Attraction Fund remains open, helping to drive visitation, boost our local economy, support jobs and create more opportunities for Tasmanians.

Despite the challenges, Tasmanians can be confident that the Spirit Replacement Project is back on track and will be delivered for Tasmanians.
