From the CEO - 6/06/25
Following the events in the Tasmanian Parliament this week, I felt it was important to reach out to industry today with a short update.
Above all, it's important to remember that our industry continues to enjoy strong bi-partisan support for its critical contribution to Tasmania's economy. Over the past few years, we've done a huge amount of work to highlight our importance. In fact, nothing can be more compelling than the one in six jobs we support here in Tasmania. So, as the events of the next few weeks roll out politically, it is important to remember that the Tasmanian brand remains strong, our airports are investing to future proof our economy and we will be having two new Spirit of Tasmania ferries operating across Bass Strait in the coming years, representing yet another step-change. Our efforts continue to be on working with our demand-generators to smooth out seasonality, invest in events that trigger visitation and advocate for infrastructure to meet our future needs - and this will not change.
As Dark Mofo descends upon us - it's an exciting time for our visitor economy but beyond that the next few months, the TICT will be focussed on using the off-season to help support, upskill and develop our industry. So, please take this opportunity to check out our Conference program - given the events of the past week, this is particularly one not to be missed. Don't wait to book your tickets as they will go quickly. Please also take the opportunity to complete our insurance survey - this is the one piece of work you have universally highlighted you want and need - but to make it a success, we need as much participation as possible.
Have a safe long weekend and I will continue to keep you updated as usual over the coming weeks.
