From the CEO - 12/03/24
With election day now less than two weeks away, yesterday I joined the Premier, Jeremy Rockliff and Nic Street in the Huon Valley for the release of the Liberals' Tourism and Events Policy for the upcoming state election.
The TICT's priorities have included additional investment in driving demand, funding to ensure our regions are ready for the new Spirit of Tasmania ferries, funding for initiatives in our Visitor Economy 2030 Strategy, support for events and product innovation, and ensuring major infrastructure projects that benefit the visitor economy get delivered. And, of course, aligning all of this with our regional dispersal and positive impact goals.
The Liberals' Tourism and Events policy amounts to $43.07 million. You can read the Liberals full policy here as well as their media release here.
This announcement comes after the Labor party released its policy a few weeks ago. Both these policies amount to multi-million-dollar investments in our critical industry and aligned with our 2030 Visitor Economy Strategy. This kind of support is testament to the ongoing role our industry plays in supporting and driving Tasmania's broader economy.
The TICT looks forward to hearing from the minor parties and candidates and how they will be supporting the visitor economy heading into the election.
Since our last update, the Liberals also released their hospitality policy which can be found here.
For a reminder on Labor's policy on tourism, events and hospitality, you can check it out here.
Before election day, we'll also ensure you are updated with policy announcements on Parks - which are still to come.
