History
In its short history the Tourism Industry Council Tasmania has confronted many challenges.
A new beginning
The Tourism Council Tasmania was incorporated on the 9th January 2001. Prior to this, the Tasmanian Branch of the Tourism Council of Australia had operated successfully for 8 years as part of the national organisation. The Tasmanian position was structurally strong and was the peak voice speaking on behalf of the industry. When the TCA suffered a financial collapse on 15 December 2000 the strength and unity of the Tasmanian industry enable the TCT to soon recommence with basically the same structure.
The previous TCA Tasmania Board became the interim Board of the TCT.
Today the Tourism Industry Council Tasmania finds itself in a sound financial position, having further cemented its position as a strong peak industry group representing the whole of the tourism industry in Tasmania.
